Dermapen Medical Microneedling delivers up to 1,300 micro punctures to the skin per second, triggering the body’s response to micro-trauma, thus stimulating the production of collagen and elastin whilst normalising various skin functions.
Although this may sound painful, the procedure is actually relatively pain free because the skin gets numbed by topical anaesthesia. Most patients are back to their usual routine within 2 days of treatment.
Microneedling may help address many skin-related complaints, including: wrinkles scarring acne alopecia skin pigmentation issues stretch marks rosacea loose skin. It may also help rejuvenate the skin and improve the overall texture of the skin.
The technique involves using multiple tiny, sterile needles to puncture the skin and cause physical trauma. This trauma prompts the dermis, a deeper layer of skin, to rebuild. Medical microneedling differs from micorneedling done at general somatologist in the depth that die Dermapen can penetrate and thus improving results
While microneedling may sound painful, it isn’t, provided the area is first numbed. After your procedure, your skin may be a little pink, and you may notice a few puncture wounds, but these fade within a few days.
This largely depends on what condition you are having treated, and the severity of this condition. Broadly speaking, the best results are seen after 6-8 Dermapen sessions, with 6 weeks between each session. For scaring and stretch marks, up to 12 treatments may be required.
As the treatment relies on the body increasing collagen production as a response to injury, results are not immediate. You will likely start to see changes around 4-6 weeks post-treatment, and a gradual improvements throughout the course.
Once the course is completed, we recommend a maintenance treatment every 3-4 months.
